Male Arrested and Charged with Further Possession of Stolen Property Offenses

19-year-old Cody Lee Allan Roach of 124 Anna Street was arrested on the 19th of December 2011 at 5:15 pm at the police station and charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of breach of probation.  It is alleged that on the 17th and 22nd of December 2011 the accused attended at a local pawn shop and pawned jewelry that had been reported stolen in a break and enter.  The break and enter had occurred to a residence in the 100 block of Birch Street between October 15th and October 17th 2011. 

At the time of the offenses the accused was on a probation order with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behavior.   The accused had been arrested and charged with possession of stolen property on December 15th along with co-accused Lindsey MacLeod, in relation to pawning jewellery on the 5th of December from the same break and enter.  Investigation Unit officers furthering the investigation laid the additional charges on Cody Roach.  The accused will appear in court on the 23rd of January 2012.

RIDE Program Vehicle Check Results in Drug Charges for Three Male Occupants

On the 17th of December, at approximately 2:20 am officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, the RCMP and OPP were conducting RIDE checks and had occasion to check a small black Chevrolet Sedan that had five occupants inside.  The female driver was issued a 72 hour suspension during the vehicle stop and at the time, officers observed drug related materials inside.  The vehicle was processed accordingly and officers commenced a drug investigation.  Three of the male passengers that were found to be in possession of illegal drugs and drug related paraphernalia at the time were all arrested and charged yesterday morning as a result of the investigation.  All have a court date of the 23rd of January: 

1)  23 year-old Darren Dawson of 308 Black Road was found in possession of 5.2 grams of cannabis marihuana in his packsack and has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance.

2)  23 year-old Andrew Boisvert of 607 Northern Avenue East was found in possession of approximately 57.5 grams of cannabis marihuana in his packsack, some in baggies and a small amount was crushed, a large quantity of baggies, a marijuana crusher, rolling papers, toker pipes, a digital scale and a vial that contained a small amount of cannabis resin/oil.  As a as result, he was charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug.

3)  22 year-old Nikkolaus Aspegren of 31 Golf Range Crescent was found in possession of 5.4 grams of MDMA (ecstacy) and was charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. 

Two Females Arrested for Drug Possession

On the 19th of December at approximately 2:45 pm members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Street Team were in the downtown area and arrested and charged two females with drug related offenses.  It is alleged that the officers observed a drug transaction involving a small amount of Fentanyl in the area of Queen Street East, near Tancred Street.  As a result, , 22 year-old Natasha Baxter of #1-212 Albert Street East, that made the purchase, was charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance.  The second female that sold the drugs, 42 year-old Rebecca Lewis of 23 Grace Street was charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance.  Lewis was further charged with one count of possessing the proceeds of crime, as it was later determined that the accused Lewis took the money she received for the drugs and purchased a winter coat with it.   Both accused females are to attend in court on the 23rd of January.

Shoplifting Related Arrest

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 19 year-old Hillary Sayers of 1705 Old Garden River Road was arrested on the 19th of December at 7:55 pm at the Station Mall and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.  It is alleged that on the 19th of December the accused attended at the LCBO Store in the Mall and stole a bottle of Captain Morgan rum.  She is to appear in court on the 23rd of January. 

Break and Enter/Theft Reports

  • Four offices at the Medical Centre on Queen Street East were broken into over the past weekend.  Cash boxes and cash were reported taken. 
  • A metal multi-tiered tackle box containing tackle and an adult CCM Mountain bike was reported stolen from the property at a residence eon Peoples Road.
  • A picnic table was reported taken from a business property on Queen Street East. 
  • Vehicle licence plates were reported stolen on Arden Street.
