The City Police and the Collision Reporting Centre responded to 18 motor vehicle collisions in the past 12 hours. The poor weather and visibility played a role in all of these collisions.

24 year old Andre Cormier was arrested by City Police officers at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre this afternoon and was charged with possession of marihuana. He will be appearing in Bail Court tomorrow morning.

2 male young offenders were arrested by City Police today at Wal Mart on Great Northern Road and both were charged with theft under $5000.00. It is alleged one of the youths stole a pair of boxer shorts and the other 2 X box games. They will be appearing in Youth Court on February 11th.

On the 6th of January a homeowner in the 100 block of Pilgrim Street reported a break and enter to an apartment. The break and enter occurred over the weekend. It is unknown if anything was taken.

Just before 2 a.m. this morning a homeowner in the 700 block of Pine Street heard a noise in the residence and assumed it was another family member. The homeowner initiated a conversation and when they did not receive a response they went and checked. At that point they observed two males fleeing the residence. The two suspects made off with collector coins and a pair of diamond loop earrings. The only description at this time is that the suspects were both male, one was taller than the other, one had a dark coat on and the other had a light coat.

On January 6, 2014, just before midnight, police officers were called to a motor vehicle collision on Goulais Ave at Second Line West. No one was injured in the collision. Officers found one of the drivers to be under the influence of alcohol. When the male failed a roadside screening device test, he was arrested and charged with Driving over .08 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood. The male, Daniel Thibodeau, age 46 of McAllen St. will appear in court on February 3.
