Yesterday afternoon city police attended at the Before and After Hair Salon in the Market Mall for a break and enter.  Sometime between the 19th and the 21st of July the business was entered and a small amount of cash was taken.

Yesterday between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. thieves attempted to break into a home on Argyle Road.

On the 12th of July shortly after 1 p.m., a neighbour on John Street observed two suspicious males walking in his neighbour’s backyard. He noted that the males had several items in their arms and approached them and asked them what they were doing. The males fled the area and the police were called.

Upon their arrival officers found that the residence had been entered and several items, including electronics and cash, were taken. Police Service Dog Justice attended in an attempt to locate the males but was unsuccessful. Officers from Patrol Services continued to work on the break and enter. As a result of their investigation a warrant was requested for 37-year-old Kerry Mearow of Wallace Terrace. Mr. Mearow was located just after midnight this morning and taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with one count of break and enter and one count of breach of probation. He will appear in bail court this morning.

Shortly before 3:30 a.m. this morning, officers from Patrol Services were patrolling the 600 block of Great Northern Road when they noted a vehicle behind the LCBO store. When officers approached the vehicle it began to leave the area at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the vehicle along Old Garden River Road to Pine Street towards Second Line East. At the intersection of Pine Street and Second Line East the vehicle went through a red light. At that point officers called off the pursuit for public safety reasons. They located the vehicle in the ditch and observed a lone male exit the vehicle. The male was taken into custody. Officers were able to determine the vehicle had been stolen from a residence on Southwind Drive. During the search of the accused officers also located a GPS and a camera that had been taken from vehicles on Terrance Avenue. Officers learned that the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behavior. In addition the accused was also on a release document with a condition not to occupy the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle. 26-year-old Cody Marshall of Queen Street East has been charged with one count of flight of police, one count of theft of motor vehicle, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of theft under $5,000, one count of breach of probation and one count of breach of undertaking.
