Mischief
Shortly after 3 am 27 year old Jason Daniel McKinnon of 235 Brien Avenue was arrested and charged with two counts of mischief under $5,000. It is alleged that the accused damaged several mailboxes, a steel door and coin operated washing machines at two apartment buildings on Willow Avenue. He will appear in court on August 26, 2013.
Break in
A Huron Central Railway container was broken into sometime last night and approximately 60 feet of wire was reported stolen.
Paint thrown on cars
Paint was thrown on cars parked in the Simpson and Kohler Street areas overnight last night.
Male Arrested for Attempt Murder & Assault with a Weapon
On the 22nd of July 2013 just after 10 pm City Police attended at a residence in the 400 block of Queen Street West after receiving a 911 call.
It is alleged that a male attended at a residence of another male known to him and struck him several times with a baseball bat.
It is further alleged that the accused swung the bat at an adult female after she attempted to intervene between the two males. The female was not injured and she quickly fled from the residence.
Officers from Patrol Services arrested the accused on one count of aggravated assault.
Officers from Investigation Services were called out and are continuing to work on this investigation.
The 46-year old male victim was taken to the Sault Area Hospital with serious life threatening injuries.
The charges have since been upgraded to reflect the seriousness of the injuries and the assault on the female witness.
35-year old William Richard Sparks of 21 Grosvenor Avenue Apartment #2 has been charged with one count of Attempt Murder and one count of Assault with a Weapon. He is being held for bail court.
July 23 morning news:
On July 22nd at 4:30 pm Patrol Officers arrested and charged a 27 year old male with two counts of Assault and one count of Breach of Probation. Officers had learned that on July 20th and 21st, following a domestic argument the male had assaulted his wife at their home on West St. The male will appear in bail court on July 23.

On July 22nd Detectives from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested and charged Melanie Turner, age 40 of 181Apt 6 James St. Sault Ste. Marie with Break and Enter and Robbery. Detectives had followed up a break and enter complaint from March 24th, 2013 where a residence in the 200 block of Albert St. East had been entered the occupant had alcohol and change taken. Turner will appear in court on August 19th.
