Five To Appear In Bail Court This Morning
5 persons will appear in bail court this morning. Two persons are facing charges related to breaches of probation and one person is back in custody after their surety was revoked. The other two persons appearing are:
20-year old David Maclary of 1-58 Wellington Street West was arrested around 5 pm last evening and has been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, two counts of breach of a release document, two counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon, one count of possession of a weapon for purpose dangerous to public and one count of weapon concealed. Last evening officers stopped the accused in his vehicle in the downtown area and as a result ended up arresting the accused. When officers searched that accused they located a large canister of bear spray in a carrier on the accused waist as well as a knife that could be opened by centrifugal force, which is prohibited. It is further alleged that the accused also had 11 grams of cocaine in his possession in addition to a quantity of cash. The estimated street value of the narcotics is $1,100. The accused was on a release order not to possession drugs and to keep the peace and be good.
66-year old Robert Collins of 377 Goulais Avenue was arrested last evening and charged with one count of attempt murder and one count of possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to public. It is alleged that on the 24th of July shortly after 4 pm the accused attempted to stab a male victim with a knife while threatening to kill the victim. It is alleged that the accused also chased the victim with the knife and that other people were in the area. The incident occurred in the City’s west end. The accused and the victim are known to each other.
17 Yr Old Faces Drug Charges
A 17-year old youth was also arrested during the vehicle stop of Mr. Maclary. The youth, who was a passenger in the vehicle, has been charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that the youth had a three small baggies in their possession with what appeared to be narcotics in them, some of which included ecstasy tablets. The youth will appear in court on September 5th.
Break & Enters
Yesterday City Police received three reports of break and enters:
1) A home in the 2000 block of Second Line West was entered between 9 am and 12 noon yesterday. Items taken include jewellery and an undisclosed amount of money.
2) A home was broken into in the 200 block of Pim Street yesterday between 6 am and 7 pm. Items taken include a flat screen TV, a DVD-VHS combination player and a laptop.
3) A home in the 500 block of Albert Street West was entered sometime between July 21st and yesterday evening. A television was taken in the break and enter.

Single Motor Vehicle Collision
A single motor vehicle collision yesterday afternoon just before 2 pm occurred on lower Pine Street near Shore Drive. A 75-year old female was driving a car westbound on Shore Drive and it appears that driver error may have caused the vehicle to go up over a curb, strike a tree and then flip onto it’s side. No charges have been laid in the incident and the investigation is ongoing. Members of the Sault Fire Services assisted patrol officers at the scene. The driver was not harmed in the incident.
Car - Bus Collision
Yesterday afternoon just after 3:30 pm City Police attended at Pim Street and MacDonald Avenue for a motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle and a City Transit bus. A car operated by a 21-year old female was traveling southbound on Pim Street. The bus, operated by a 36-year old male, was traveling northbound on Pim Street. It is alleged that the car turned left onto MacDonald Avenue and the two vehicles collided. There were 12 passengers on the bus, two of whom were taken to the Sault Area Hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The 21-year old driver has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of left turn fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision.
