24 year old Anthony RAMKAY of Desbarats Ontario has been charged with trafficking a controlled substance and has had his vehicle seized by police.
In the early morning hours of the 30th of July 2012, plain clothes officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services Patrol division observed the accused drive up to a residence on Huron Street. Officers observed an alleged hand to hand drug deal between the driver of the vehicle (Mr. RAMKAY), and a second individual. A short time later Mr. RAMKAY’S vehicle was stopped by officers, small amounts of marijuana, as well as cash believed to be related to the drug transaction were located in the possession of the accused. As a result, Mr. RAMKAY was arrested and charged with trafficking a controlled substance.
In addition, the cash and Mr. RAMKAY’S vehicle, a 1998 BMW, were seized by police as offence related property. This investigation is continuing, however, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is seeking an order to have both the cash and Mr. RAMKKAY’S vehicle forfeited to the Crown.
Persons who profit from illegal activity will face the consequences of having their property and assets seized if they form part of the offence.
A safe, drug free community is one of our top priorities. Our officers will continue to work with our community partners and prosecutors in similar cases to help take away the tools and the profits from criminals.

Weekend RIDE results
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service conducted RIDE checks on Saturday the 28th of July. A total of 249 vehicles were checked with 2 roadside screening tests being done with both drivers passing and no suspensions being issued.
Morning Report
Arrests/Charged Persons:
A 30 year old male was arrested and charged with 3 counts of sexual assault, theft under $5000 and breach of an undertaking. The assaults resulted from incidents on 3 different occasions beginning in the middle of July 2012. The accused also stole a bottle of Vodka from the victim earlier this month. The accused person was on an undertaking to abstain from the consumption of alcohol which was breached on Monday when the investigating officers noted alcohol on the accused’s breath. The accused will appear in bail court this morning.

24 year old Anthony Ramkay of Desbarats was arrested and charged on the 30th of July with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the purpose of Trafficking. Ramkay was also on probation and breached 2 conditions of his probation by possessing marihuana and failing to keep the peace and being of good behaviour. Mr. Ramkay will also appear in bail court this morning.

[Pardon Issued] was arrested at approximately 12:45 am today and charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80mg. It is alleged that [Pardon Issued] was involved in a single motor vehicle collision prior to his arrest in which the motor vehicle sustained a moderate amount of damage. The accident occurred in the area of Hillside Drive and Peoples Road. No injuries were reported. A September court date has been set.
