Husband Throws Knives At Wife
A 31-year old male will appear in bail court this morning. Shortly after 11 pm last evening City Police attended at a west end residence after receiving a 911 call. When officers arrived at the address they received information from the female occupant of the home. It is alleged that the female’s common-law husband assaulted her by throwing 2 knives at her. One of the knives did strike the female, but she did not require medical treatment. The male has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon.
Assault With Weapon
18-year old Matthew Sylvestre of 416 Connaught Avenue was arrested last evening along with a second accused. It is alleged that on the 4th of June the accused and a 17-year old youth assaulted a male victim known to the both accused persons. It is alleged that the two accused repeatedly punched the victim in the head area, as well as striking the victim with a glass object. It is further alleged that both accused persons kicked in a locked front door and a bathroom door of the victim’s east end residence. It is alleged that this damage occurred when the victim ran into his home to avoid being assaulted further by the accused persons. The victim required medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries. Both of the accused persons have each been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm, one count of unlawfully in a dwelling house, one count of mischief under $5,000 and one count of assault with a weapon. Matthew Sylvestre will appear in bail court this morning. The youth will appear in court on July 11th.
Stealing From Joe's No Frills
51-year old Dana Tomljanovich of 133 Pozzebon Crescent was arrested just before noon hour yesterday and charged with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that he attempted to steal $193 worth of meat from Joe’s No Frills on Korah Road. He was apprehended by store security and turned over the City Police. He will appear in court on July 10th.
Zellers Theft
26-year old Rhonda Woods of 344-59 Old Garden River Road was arrested just after 1 pm yesterday and charged with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that the accused stole $30 worth of clothing from the Zellers Store in the Zellers Plaza on Great Northern Road. The accused was apprehended by store security as she left the store with the unpaid merchandise. The accused was turned over to City Police. She will appear in court on July 10th.
Yet Another Theft... This Time From Rome's
Just after 6 pm both 41-year old Sandra Laine of 2-296 Beverly Street and Robert Lachance of 2-160 Bruce Street were each arrested and charged with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that the two accused persons attended at Rome’s on Great Northern Road and stole $138 worth of meat. Both accused persons were apprehended by store security as they were leaving the store with the unpaid merchandise. Both accused persons were turned over the City Police. They will both appear in court on July 10th.
Suspicious Activity
Just after 1 am this morning City Police attended in the 400 block of River Road regarding suspicious activity. A resident in the area reported two males were trying to break into a neighbour’s car. A second caller reported a van in the ditch in 400 block of River Road. When officer arrived they discovered the van in the ditch had been stolen from a home in the 400 block of River Road. A search of the area failed to come up with the two suspects.
Youth Caught Breaking Into Vehicles
Just after 4 am this morning a resident in the 100 block of Churchill Avenue called to report three youths were trying to break into his vehicle. The youths fled the area but officers apprehended one of the suspects. A 19-year old male is currently in custody in relation to this incident. It is alleged that the accused stole a small amount of change from vehicles in this area. The male has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of trespass by night and one count of breach of probation. Officers are continuing their investigation into this incident and as a result the paper work is being processed. At this time the name of the accused cannot be released pending the laying of the information. It will be provided later today or tomorrow morning.
