Numerous Charges Against Male
46-year old Steven Donald Creighton of no fixed address will appear in bail court this morning. It is alleged that on May 20th the accused took a cab to the West End Shoe Store on Bruce Street and attempted to cash a stolen government cheque. It is alleged that the accused stole the cheque from a male and then attempted to purchase merchandise and take the remainder of the money. The accused also had no money to pay for the cab he had taken to the store. City Police were called and Mr. Creighton was charged with one count of uttering a forged document, one count of possession of stolen property, one count of transportation fraud, one count of personation and one count of breach of probation.
Breach of Release Document
A 17-year old youth will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested on Friday. It is alleged that the accused stole a credit card from a vehicle in the 100 block of Donna Drive on May 18th and used the card on that date in the early morning hours at Wardlaw Fuels on Wellington Street West. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation as well as being on release documents. The accused has been charged with one count of breach of a release document, two counts of breach of probation, one count of theft under $5,000, one count of possession property obtained by crime, one count of forge credit card and one count of possession of stolen credit card.
Male Charged with Assault
A 22-year old male will appear in bail court this morning after City Police arrested the male on May 21st. It is alleged that on that date around 5 am the accused assaulted his girlfriend in their downtown residence. The assault consisted of punching and kicking the victim in the head several times. The victim did receive non-life threatening injuries but did not require medical treatment at the time. The male was also on probation at the time of the offence. The accused has been charged with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation.
Failure to Provide Breath Sample
18-year old Ryan Keleher of 2092 Queen Street East was arrested on May 22nd just before 3 am. It is alleged that the accused was traveling eastbound on Chambers Avenue in a minivan and was observed by patrol officers to cross the centre line a few time. The van turned off onto Amber Street and went through a stop sign. Officers stopped the vehicle and detected an odor of alcohol on the accused. The male refused to provide a breath sample and was subsequently charged with one count of fail to provide a breath sample. The accused will appear in court on June 20th.
Assault with A Weapon
On the 21st of May around 3 am it is alleged that 22-year old Brandon Soyatt of 1-231 Brown Street assaulted another male by hitting the victim in the head with a large rock. The victim required medical treatment for the injuries. It does not appear that the accused and victim knew each other. Mr. Soyatt has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of assault causing bodily harm. The accused will appear in court on June 27th.
Break and Enter
On the 23rd of May around 8 am a homeowner in the 400 block of Morin Street reported a male had just broken into his garage and left carrying a duffle bag. Officers were in the area immediately and stopped the accused on a bicycle on Nelson Street. Officers recovered a belt and disc sander. Vincent Edward Gingras of 569 Charles Street has been charged with one count of break and enter and commit an offence. The accused will appear in court on June 27th.
On the 20th of May a homeowner in the 600 block of Second Line West reported their garage was broken into overnight. Thieves made off with one homemade axe.
Bear Warning
City Police received 9 more calls involving bears over the long weekend. In addition to the other tips offered on Fridays’ news release, the MNR also suggests taking down your birdfeeders this time of year. It appears that the bears are very attracted to this readily available and easy to obtain source of food.
