On October 26, 2015 officers of the City Police officers from the Crime Suppression Unit and the Drug Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant in the area of John Street. Investigation is alleged to have revealed a small quantity of cannabis marihuana and three cannabis marijuana plants growing in a tent with lights and other growing equipment. On October 27, 2015 Troy Robert Cardiff, age 31, turned himself in to police at the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. Cardiff was arrested for production of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on November 30, 2015 at 9 a.m.
On October 26, 2015, city police responded to the intersection of St Georges Avenue West and Wellington Street West regarding an accident. On arrival it was apparent that two vehicles had been involved in a collision. The driver of one of the vehicles tried to flee the scene. She was caught and it became apparent why she had tried to run. Charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, consuming over the legal limit and leaving the scene of an accident is Kaitlynn Coutts, age 26. She will be appearing in court on November 23, 2015 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charges.
