Over the last two weeks, two drivers have been charged with impaired by drug related offences.

A news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service reports that on the evening of Jan. 30, 45-year-old Darren Nocioli was arrested following a two-vehicle collision on South Market Street.

Police say the accused "performed poorly" during a drug recognition evaluation and stands charged with impaired driving – alcohol and drug, and two counts of breach of recognizance.

Driver found sitting in running vehicle

In an unrelated incident, 45-year-old Colin Harris was arrested after police responded to a call regarding a possible impaired driver on the afternoon of Feb. 4.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of Great Northern Road and located the accused sitting in the driver's seat of a running vehicle.

Police say Harris later failed a drug recognition evaluation, and a search found him to be in possession of suspected fentanyl.

The accused stands charged with impaired driving – alcohol and drugs, and possession of a controlled substance.

Both Nocioli and Harris are scheduled to appear in court on March 15.
