Two face robbery, drug charges following Wellington West incident

A news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service reports that Blake Hudson and Shawn Reedy have been arrested and face a number of charges, including robbery, break and enter, and possession of a controlled substance.

The release states the two men were involved in an incident of assault and theft that occurred Sunday evening at a residence on Wellington Street West.

Both men were located and arrested yesterday morning.

Police say that Mr. Hudson was found in possession of suspected fentanyl, and Mr. Reedy was in possession of suspected heroin at the time of their arrests.

Full text of the news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service follows:

On Oct. 5, 2020, officers with Patrol Services arrested 37-year-old Blake Hudson and 37-year-old Shawn Reedy for robbery.

It’s alleged on Oct. 4, 2020 at approximately 11 p.m., the two accused and a third man attended a residence in the 0-100 block of Wellington Street West. Once inside the residence, the three men began assaulting two victims, striking them repeatedly. It is believed the two accused, the third man and the victims are known to each other. During the altercation it is further alleged the accused stole $700 in Canadian currency, a watch, rings, bracelet, three phones and a purse from the victims.

The two victims were able to escape and contact police. Upon arrival, the two accused and the third man were no longer in the area.

It’s further alleged on Oct. 5, 2020 at 4:10 a.m., the two accused entered a business in the 2100 block of Queen Street East and stole sporting equipment, blankets and power cords.

On Oct. 5, 2020 at 8:30 a.m., officers located Mr. Reedy walking on Queen Street East and discovered him to be wanted in connection with an overnight robbery. He was arrested. A subsequent search of the accused found him to be in possession of approximately one gram of a substance believed to be heroin. He is charged with two counts of robbery, three counts of break and enter, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and four counts of breach of probation. He was held for bail court.

At 10:40 a.m. on Oct. 5, 2020, officers located Mr. Hudson and he was arrested. A subsequent search found him to be in possession of rounds of ammunition, sporting equipment and approximately .89 grams of a substance believed to be fentanyl. He is charged with two counts of robbery, three counts of break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of breach of recognizance and five counts of breach of probation. He was held for bail court.
