Two face theft, fraud charges

Charges relate to a November 2019 incident

A news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service reports that two people have been arrested and face fraud and theft charges.

The charges relate to an incident that occurred in November of last year.

Full text of the news release follows:

On Feb. 26, 2020, officers with Patrol Services arrested 31-year-old Edward Hodgson and on Oct. 4, 2020 officers with Patrol Services arrested 27-year-old Tyler Wynne for fraud under $5,000.

It’s alleged in November 2019, the two accused attended a residence in the 0-100 block of Lorna Drive, entered a vehicle and stole a wallet containing $20 in Canadian currency and bank cards. It is further alleged the two accused made four separate purchases with the stolen cards totalling approximately $561.

Mr. Hodgson was located on Feb. 26, 2020 and arrested. He is charged with fraud under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, theft under $5,000, possession of a stolen credit card, theft of credit card and breach of recognizance.

Mr. Wynne was located on Oct. 4, 2020 and arrested. He is charged with fraud under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, theft under $5,000, possession of a stolen credit card and theft of a credit card.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 9, 2020.
