Two people are facing drug charges after being pulled over by Batchewana First Nation Police.
On Monday at around 1 p.m. officers patrolling August Street spotted a vehicle known to be owned by a suspended driver.
They pulled it over and found two people inside.
Police say the passenger was on conditions to remain outside Batchewana First Nation.
Once officers searched the vehicle and occupants, they say they found over 21 grams of suspected cocaine and less than 1 gram of suspected fentanyl.
The driver, 33-year-old Jamie Sharpe of White River, has been charged with:
- Possession of Schedule I substance - Cocaine
- Possession of Schedule I substance - Opioid (other than Heroin)
The passenger, 55-year-old Curtis Leach from Sault Ste. Marie, has been charged with:
- Possession of Schedule I substance - Cocaine
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
