Two teens charged in 2019 stabbing investigation

Sault Police have charged two teens in relation to a stabbing investigation that began in July 2019.

A news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service reports that the two, aged 17 and 18, have been charged with assault with a weapon.

The victim was stabbed in the area of Albert Street West and James Street on July 26, 2019.

Both of the accused were minors at the time of the incident and their names will not be released, Sault Police communications manager Lincoln Louttit told SooToday.

On Feb. 12, 2021 officers with Patrol Services charged a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old boy with assault with a weapon.

On July 26, 2019 the victim was driving in the area of Albert Street West and James Street when he had to avoid the two accused as it’s alleged they were walking in the road area.

Upon exiting the vehicle, the victim and the two accused were involved in an altercation and the victim was stabbed. The two accused fled the area.

The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The two accused were located on Feb. 12, 2021 and arrested. They are both charged with assault with a weapon and one boy is also charged with breach of recognizance.

They are scheduled to appear in court on March 23, 2021.
