Vehicles collide at intersection where city removed traffic lights

Downtown intersection recently became part of traffic study

Yet another crash has happened at the intersection of Albert Street East and Elgin Street.

Police and fire responded to a two-vehicle collision at the downtown intersection around 7 p.m. Wednesday night.

It's unknown if there were any injuries.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie announced a traffic study in May, which included turning off the street lights at three intersections and adding stop signs to the minor roads instead.

In this instance, motorists on Albert Street now have the right of way, while drivers on Elgin must stop at the new signs.
