A 34-year-old faces multiple weapons charges stemming from an incident that occurred earlier this week.

In a news release issued today, Sault Ste. Marie police say they responded to a call shortly after midnight on May 26 of someone appearing to have a firearm in the area of Grace Street and Elgin Street.

Upon investigation, police say they found out that the accused had gotten into an argument with someone known to them, pulled a firearm from their waistband, threatened them with the firearm, and began walking toward the victim before turning around and walking away.

Officers then went to the accused's residence in the 0-100 block of Grace Street.

As a result, on May 27, David Dyni was arrested and charged with:

  • Firearm – Use While Committing Offence
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon
  • Uttering Threats

At this time, the firearm has not been recovered.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
