VIDEO: $10K in commercial fishing nets and contents reported stolen

Nets were stolen from an area of the North Channel of Lake Huron between September 1 and 20

Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District Crime Stoppers and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry hope to identify persons responsible for the theft of commercial fishing nets in the area of the North Channel of Lake Huron.

A news release issued today by Crime Stoppers states that from Sept. 1 to Sept. 20, between the hours of 4 and 5:30 p.m., commercial fish operators have had nets and their contents stolen from Whalesback Channel.

The value of the stolen property is estimated at $10,000.

Witnesses report seeing a blue and light-coloured vessel with a black motor in the area at the time the thefts are reported to have occurred.
