VIDEO: Police share important crisis support information

This week is Crime Prevention Week

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is recognizing Crime Prevention Week with a video series designed to help residents keep themselves, their loved ones and their property safe.

The following is the Crime Prevention message of the day:

On day four of Crime Prevention Week, we are sharing information on how to access Crisis Support Services with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and Sault Area Hospital.

Our Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Team (MCRRT) is a collaborative unit that pairs officers trained to respond to mental health crisis calls for service with a Sault Area Hospital (SAH) Crisis Services Clinician.

If you have concerns for a loved one’s mental health and well-being, SAH provides free and confidential Crisis Support services. You can reach them by calling 705-759-3398 and a skilled Crisis Worker can help them through any challenges they are facing.

If a loved one is unwilling to speak with a Crisis Worker or you have urgent concerns for their safety and/or the safety of others please call 9-1-1 or 705-949-6300 and MCRRT can conduct a well-being check.
