A man wanted for breaching probation is facing more charges after Sault Police spotted him over the weekend riding a bicycle — and allegedly carrying $2,500 worth of fentanyl.

Early Saturday morning, around 1 a.m., detectives spotted a man on a bike on Spruce Street and determined he was wanted for failing to attend court.

“The accused was arrested,” says a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “During a subsequent search detectives found the accused to be in possession of approximately 17 grams of suspected fentanyl, a digital scale and packaging material.”

Cory Cloutier, 31, is charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with a probation order.

He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled back in court on Oct. 7, 2024.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Cloutier is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
