A Sault Ste. Marie woman wanted by police is facing charges after being arrested Saturday.

The Anishinabek Police Service (APS) say officers spotted a woman who was known to be wanted by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

They say she was in breach of her conditions.

“The female was placed under arrest and officers located 2 grams of suspected fentanyl in her possession,” APS said in a news release.

Kirsten Maitland, 25, has been charged with possession of a Schedule I substance, resisting arrest and breach of an undertaking.

She was held for bail court and was remanded into custody.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Maitland is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
