Arrests: On August 13, 2014 City Police responded to a call in 20 block of Wallace Terrace. On speaking to a male it was found that he had been driving his vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

On August 13, 2014 City Police responded to a call in 20 block of Wallace Terrace.  On speaking to a male it was found that he had been driving his vehicle under the influence of alcohol.  A request for a breath sample was made but the accused would not provide a suitable sample.  The accused was arrested for failing to comply with a breath demand.  29 year old Talen Wade Nielsen of Wellington Street West will appear in court on September 15, 2014 at 9:00 am.

Break and enter

City Police responded to a complaint at Superior Slag Products regarding theft of copper that occurred overnight.  A chain link fence was cut and a large quantity of copper removed.

On Tuesday, August 12, 2014 shortly before 5 p.m., officers attended Rome’s Independent Grocers on Great Northern Road regarding a pair of shoplifters that had just fled the store on foot. Store security indicated that a backpack full of meat valued at approximately $180 was taken from the store without paying for the items. With the assistance of store security, police were able to locate and arrest one of the persons responsible and investigation is ongoing regarding the second. 33-year-old Julia Caponi of Trunk Road is charged with theft under $5000 and will appear in court on September 8.

On August 12 at approximately 10:20 p.m., 41-year-old Gray Latvanen of Borron Street was arrested by city police officers for threatening. It is alleged the accused and another male person known to him, were arguing earlier in the day, which eventually led the accused to threaten to kill the victim. Mr. Latvanen will be appearing in Bail Court later this morning.
