Several Charges
On the 24th of December City Police arrested a 23-year-old male. It’s believed that the accused attended at an east end residence belonging to his ex-girlfriend and forced his way in by picking the lock. The accused became upset at the female and her male friend and punched a hole in the wall then threatened to kill them. Police were called and the accused was located at his residence just after 2pm that afternoon. The accused in this incident has been charged with 1 count of threatening death, 1 count of break and enter and 1 count of mischief. He is to appear in bail court today.
Assault Charge
A 42-year-old male has been charged in a domestic related incident. It’s believed that on the 26th of December the accused became involved in an argument with his common-law wife. The argument escalated to a point where the female was thrown down a flight of stairs, got punched and kicked and had her hair pulled. The female victim then fled the area and attended at a friend’s residence where Police were called. The accused was arrested at his downtown residence and charged with 1 count of assault. He will be attending bail court this morning. The female victim in this incident suffered an abrasion and bruising to her cheek and eye, which did not require medical attention.
On the 26th of December at approximately 6am, City Police responded to another domestic dispute. In this incident the accused a 27-year-old male assaulted his girlfriend at her central residence. It’s believed that the female was struck in the head by the accused and suffered a swollen lump. The accused was arrested at the scene and charged with 1 count of assault. He is to appear in bail court today.
Young Offender
A 15-year-old youth will also be making an appearance in bail court this morning. It’s believed that the youth was visiting at a residence on Chapel Street on the 23rd of December and began to demand a bottle of wine be given to him. After being refused the alcohol the youth assaulted the homeowner by punching and pushing him. The accused then grabbed the bottle of wine and fled the area on foot. Police found the accused walking down Chapel Street just after 10:30pm where he was then arrested. A CPIC check of the accused revealed he was bound by a release document. The accused has been charged with 1 count of robbery and 5 counts of breach of release document. The accused was on a curfew to be in his residence from 10pm until 7am and was not to consume or have alcohol or have in his possession any weapons. At the time of his arrest the accused was carrying a pocketknife and had consumed alcohol.
Impaired
35-year-old Michael Joseph Miller of 329 Alexandra Street has been charged with 1 count of impaired driving, 1 count of consume over the legal limit, 1 count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and 1 count of breach of probation order. It’s believed that the accused while impaired by alcohol was operating a 1991 Chevy pick up truck and passing other vehicles at a high rate of speed. The accused was also observed by witnesses performing donuts and not stopping for traffic signals. The accused was stopped and arrested by police on trunk road just after 12pm on the 25th of December. Mr. Miller was on a probation order to report to the City Police, which he failed to do so. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on the 29th of January 2007.
Assault
On the 23rd of December just before midnight a 50-year-old male was charged with assaulting his child. It’s alleged that the accused shoved and slapped his child after they became involved in an argument. The accused in this incident has been charged by police with 1 count of assault and is scheduled to appear in court on the 29th of January.
Youth Charged
A 14-year-old youth is to appear in court on the 30th of January 2007. It is believed that the accused on a number of occasions has threatened to kill or physically hurt another youth. The two people involved are known to each other and the incidents of threats date back to the 30th of November. On the 21st of December at 3:30 pm the accused assaulted the victim after getting off of the bus and then proceeded to threaten the victim’s mother. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries to the ear and head after being punched numerous times. The accused has been charged with1 count of assault and 1 count of threatening death.
Shop Lifting
City Police charged a 41-year-old male with theft after he was apprehended by mall security at the IDA Drug Store at the Station Mall on the 23rd of December. Doug Boston of 903 Queen Street East was observed by store staff placing a sculpture under his shirt and then leaving the store without making any attempt to pay for the item. When Police arrived the accused gave a false name to Police. He has been charged with 1 count of theft under $5000 and 1 count of obstruct peace officer and is to appear in court on the 29th of January 2007
Several Charges for Young Offender
On the 23rd of December officers attended in the area of Albion Street in regards to a number of people causing a disturbance by being loud. Upon arrival City Police found a 17-year-old youth to be intoxicated. The youth was arrested by police and upon searching this person they found a quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia. A further check of the items revealed 4 bags containing 110 grams of marihuana, a digital scale and just under $3000 in Canadian currency. Also concealed on this person was a knife with a 10-inch blade. The accused has been charged with 1 count of trafficking in a controlled drug and 1 count of a concealed weapon. The accused is scheduled to appear in court today
