The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in relation to a motor vehicle collision investigation. On Wednesday December 4, 2013 at approximately 9:10 a.m.
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in relation to a motor vehicle collision investigation. On Wednesday December 4, 2013 at approximately 9:10 a.m. members of the Sault Ste Marie Police, Traffic Services responded to a three vehicle collision at the intersection of Queen Street East at Church Street. The collision involved a grey four door Cadillac, a black Dodge pickup truck and a yellow City Board of Works grader. Two involved persons were taken from the scene by EMS, suffering from minor, non life threatening injuries. The police are requesting that anyone who may have witnessed the incident or was in the immediate area at the time of the collision please contact the Sault Ste. On December 4th, 2013 at 7:00 am a 23 year old male turned himself in at the Police Services Building. The male was wanted for Failing to Re-Attend Court on several outstanding domestic related charges that he was already facing. The male was arrested and charged with Failing to Attend Court. He will now appear in court on December 4th.

On the morning of December 3rd, 2013 a female called the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and advised then that she had placed an explosive device at the Court House and at the Crown’s Office on Queen St. East. A check of both buildings revealed that no device had been placed at either location. Detectives were able to identify the caller and on December 4th, 2013 they arrested and charged Melanie Turner, age 41 of no fixed address with a False Message under the Criminal Code and Possession of a Controlled Drug under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act. When Turner was arrested a small amount of marihuana was found on her person. She will appear in bail court Dec. 5th.

On Dec. 4th at 2:00 pm Police Officers were called to a domestic dispute at a west end home. Officers learned that a 43 year old female had assaulted her ex-boyfriend by punching him. No injuries were reported in the assault. Further the accused threatened to harm the victim’s new girlfriend. The 43 year old was arrested and charged with Assault and Threatening. She will appear in bail court on December 5th.

On December 4th Detectives arrested and charged Brent Boland, age 46 of 168 Andrew St. with Possession of Two Prohibited Weapons. Officers had found a canaster of bear mace and a flick knife in his residence. Boland will appear in court on January 6th.

On the 3rd of December 2013 at 4:30 p.m. Kaitland Rathbone-Laforge, age 19, was arrested at Walmart on Great Northern Road for shoplifting $87 worth of makeup and clothing. There were outstanding warrants for failing to attend court, failing to attend for fingerprints and breach of probation. These charges were also laid and she will be appearing in bail court on the 4th of December, 2013 at 1 a.m.

On the 3rd of December 2013 just before midnight police attended to the 100 block of Sackville Road for a report of a domestic dispute.  A 38-year-old male was arrested for domestic assault for allegedly punching, kicking and pushing the victim. It is further alleged that the male threatened to kill the victim. He was also on conditions of bail and was further charged with six counts of breach of recognizance. He will appear in bail court on December 4, 2013 at 10 a.m.
