On the 13th of January 2015 officer from Investigation Services arrested 44-year old Scott McPherson of Ford Street and charged him with two counts of assault. It is alleged that on December 2nd the accused assaulted a young person by grabbing him. Further investigation revealed that the accused assaulted a second young person in January of 2014 by hitting him with an object. The victims and the accused are known to each other. No further details are being released to protect the identity of the victims. He will appear in court on February 23rd, 2015
On the 14th of January 2015 at approximately 925 a.m. officers from Criminal Investigation Services attended the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre and charged 37yr old Paul Jeffrey WHALEN of Ste. Anne Avenue, Ottawa Ontario for breaching his Long-Term Supervision Order. It is alleged that on the 10th of January 2015 the accused breached his condition of his Order by communicating and associating with a person known to be involved in criminal activity. The accused will appear in Bail Court tomorrow on the 15th of January 2015.
On the 14th of January 2015 at approximately 1:40 p.m. officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit were in the downtown area and checked a male wanted on outstanding warrants from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. Charged with two counts of Failing to Attend Court and three counts of Breach of Probation is 27yr old Michael Leslie HODGSON of Bear Creek Ave. Batchewana, Ontario. He will appear in Bail Court tomorrow the 15th of January 2015.
On January 14, 2015 police were called to Reggies Tavern on Queen Street in regards to a male victim that was assaulted and had his money and cigarettes stolen. A description of the accused was given and the male accused was located on Bruce Street. A search of the accused located the money and cigarettes as well as a small amount of marijuana. He was also on a probation order. Charged with Robbery, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Breach of Probation is 30-year-old Courtney Richard Batisse of Kirkland Lake, Ontario. He is being held for a bail hearing this morning.
