The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has received notification of a planned protest in the area of the international bridge today.  A Garden River group affiliated with the idle no more movement has advised that they plan a peaceful protest to disseminate information in the area of the international bridge today beginning at noon and ending at 5 p.m.  Members of the motoring public can expect delays in this area when entering or exiting the United States.  Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will be on the scene monitoring the gathering to ensure the safety of all members of the public.

Arrests/Charged Persons:

On January 15, 2013 at approximately 1:30am police attended regarding a domestic incident and a vehicle collision. It is alleged that the accused drove the vehicle the accused was driving into the victim’s vehicle causing approximately $1000 damage to the victim’s vehicle.  The accused was later arrested for mischief under $5000 and will appear in bail court on January 16, 2013 at 10:00am.

On January 15, 2013 at approximately 4:00 pm police attended in the Dennis Street area regarding a break and enter to a residence.  Officers received a detailed description of the suspect and a short time later located and arrested an adult male, for attempt break and enter. Further on December 30, 2012 it is alleged that the accused did break and enter a residence in the 200 block of Bainbridge Avenue and stole jewelry, and wallets. The accused is charged with break and enter and theft.  The accused also had outstanding warrants for breach of probation X 2, assault and failing to attend court.  The accused Paul Joseph Quesnel, age 21of 728 Wellington Street West, will appear in bail court on January 16, 2013 at 10:00am.

On January 16, 2013, at approximately 12:25hrs.officers attended Tim Horton’s Coffee Donuts on John Street regarding an intoxicated female. The female gave a false name on two occasions before properly identifying herself. Keyleigh Anne Downey, age 20 was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.
