Evening news: Break and Enter reported in the 600 block of Second Line West. The incident occurred between January 7 and 8. Two televisions, a laptop and old currency went missing.

Break and Enter reported in the 600 block of Second Line West. The incident occurred between January 7 and 8.  Two televisions, a laptop and old currency went missing.

Break and Enter to a job site trailer at the old Esso station at the corner of Bruce Street and Pim Street. Numerous tools were taken from the trailer.

The Traffic Department of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is asking the public to reduce speeds and to be aware of very slippery conditions on local roads.  There have been 15 vehicle accidents reported between the hours of 6:45 a.m. and 3:10 p.m.  Please drive in accordance to the road conditions.

Morning news:

Yesterday morning shortly after 11 a.m., in the area of Bay Street and Elgin Street, a female was sitting in her vehicle waiting for a friend who was in a local business. A male suspect opened the passenger door of the vehicle and stole the two purses that were in the vehicle. The friend was returning to the vehicle and saw the suspect stealing the purses and yelled at the male. The male fled the area and was chased by security officers and employees at the local business. The male suspect threatened to harm two of the witnesses who chased him. One of the witnesses was able to grab one of the purses back from the suspect. The suspect fled the area in a vehicle. Patrol officers interviewed a number of witnesses in the area. Officers from Investigation Services are continuing to work on this robbery.   

A break and enter was reported on Spruce Street yesterday afternoon. It is unknown if anything was taken from the residence.

Last evening a homeowner in the 3000 block of Second Line West returned home to discover their residence had been entered.  A small undisclosed amount of money was taken.

On January 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Dusten Difilippo, age 21 of 242 Beverley St attended at Lids in the Station Mall. Once in the store he stole several ball hats and left the store. On January 7, 2014 at 4:20 p.m. Difilippo re-attended the Lids Store wearing one of the stolen hats. Police officers arrested and charged him with Theft under $5,000.00. At the time of his arrested he was also wanted for Breaching his Probation. He will appear in court on February 10.

On January 7, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. a 50 year old male turned himself in at the Police Station. Detectives arrested and charged the male with Assault with a Weapon, Sexual Exploitation and Threatening Death or Bodily Harm. The allegations involved the male striking the victim, who was six years old at the time, with a belt, touch the victim in a sexual manner and threatening to harm the victim if anyone found out. These incidents are alleged to have occurred in 2005 and involved a victim known to him. The male will appear in court on February 10. 

On January 7, 2014 at 10:38 p.m. police officers attended a residence in the east end for a domestic disturbance. Officers learned that a 26 year old male had assaulted his common-in-law wife by pinning her down. Officers arrested and charged the male with assault and transported him to the Police Services Building. Further investigation with the victim revealed earlier in the day the male had sexually assaulted the victim by forcing her to have sexual relations with him. The victim had minor injuries in the assaults. The male will appear in court on January 8, 2014.
