On July 10, 2015, at approximately 7:30 p.m. the accused Dayna Johnston age 34 is alleged to have assaulted the victim by punching the victim. This happened at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre. On July 12, 2015, at approximately 7:30 a.m.

On July 10, 2015, at approximately 7:30 p.m. the accused Dayna Johnston age 34 is alleged to have assaulted the victim by punching the victim. This happened at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre. On July 12, 2015, at approximately 7:30 a.m. the accused [allegedly] assaulted a second victim at the same facility.  On July 22, 2015, City Police attended the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre and arrested the accused for two counts of assault.  The accused will appear in bail court on July 23, 2015 at 10 a.m.

On July 22, 2015, the accused Nicholas Crack, age 21, was arrested for possession of stolen property.  It is alleged that on July 17, 2015 a bicycle was stolen and on July 22, 2015 the bicycle was located and the accused was arrested. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on August 24, 2015 at 9 a.m.

On July 22, 2015 at approximately 1:57 p.m., City Police attended in the area of Palace Drive regarding a domestic matter.  It is alleged that a verbal argument between a male and female was occurred and the male damaged the vehicle.  City Police arrested the 21-year-old male for domestic mischief. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on August 26, 2015 at 9:30 a.m.

Sometime overnight between July 20 and July 21 a shed in the 600 block of Wellington Street West was entered. A generator, a table saw and several tools were taken.

Sometime overnight between July 20 and July 21 a residence on Placid Avenue was broken into. A stereo, a Wii console and games were taken.

On the 21st of July a break and enter was reported to Fresco Restaurant on Albert Street West. Sometime overnight the restaurant was broken into. Alcohol was taken.

Yesterday afternoon city police received a report of a theft of a snow machine that had been in storage on Third Line West. A blue 2009 Yamaha Nitro snow machine was taken in the last few weeks.

Yesterday morning a vehicle in the 500 block of Albert Street West was broken into and a wallet and contents were taken. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind motorists not to leave valuable in their vehicle.

On July 21, 2015 at 2:55 p.m., city police arrested and charged Kristi Waboose, 31 years old, and Shawn Reedy, 33 years old, both of Gore Street, with three counts each of fraud under $5,000. It is alleged that on three occasions, the pair attended at the Royal Bank, 556 Queen Street and made empty envelope deposits totaling $2,000. Ms. Waboose will be appearing in court on August 24, 2015. Mr. Reedy will be appearing in Bail Court on July 22, 2015 as he was on a conditional sentence order and recognizance of bail at the time of the offences. Mr. Reedy was also charged with breach of recognizance.

On July 21, 2015 at 11:28 p.m., city police arrested and charged Annette Denis, 41 years old, of Franklin Street with impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Police had responded to the area of Second Line West and Goulais Avenue after receiving several 911 calls about an erratic driver in that area. A witness was able to follow the vehicle from the top end of Goulais Avenue to Korah Road. Officers caught up to the vehicle and stopped it on Franklin Street. Ms. Denis will be appearing in court on August 24, 2015. Her vehicle was seized and impounded for seven days under the Highway Traffic Act. 

On July 21, 2015 at 10:15 p.m., city police arrested and charged Ioan Bratu, 31 years old of Allen Street, with breach of recognizance. Mr. Bratu telephoned police to report his beer stolen. When officers attended to speak with him it is alleged that he was under the influence of alcohol. He was on a recognizance of bail with a condition not to purchase, possess or consume alcohol. Mr. Bratu will be appearing in Bail Court on July 22, 2015.

On July 21, 2015 at 9:20 p.m., city police attended at Sault Area Hospital regarding a mischief complaint. A 23-year-old female patient was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000. It is alleged that she caused damage to a public washroom by using a portable tray to smash a hole in the washroom wall and damage the door. The accused will appear in court on August 24, 2015.
