Bail Court Appearance Arrests/Charged Persons with Court Appearance Dates:

A 64 year old male was arrested for one count of assault regarding an incident on July 2, 2012 where it is alleged he assaulted his wife as she tried to leave in a vehicle and he was trying to grab the ring off of her finger. A struggle ensued when she attempted to close her hand and she received minor injuries.  He is to appear in Domestic Violence Court on 01 August 2012.

21 year old Douglas John Simpson (also known as Douglas Hynds) of 134 Gore St. will appear in bail court on July 3 2012, charged with breach of probation, theft and assault with a weapon.  Officers attended a domestic call for assistance and subsequently located Simpson (Hynds) barricaded in an apartment.  He was arrested on an outstanding warrant for theft and assault with a weapon stemming from an incident where, on April 14, 2012,  at approximately 14:00 hours, it is alleged that Simpson ( Hynds) stole approximately 96 chocolate bars and four CD's from Dollarama located at 293 Northern Avenue .  The accused concealed these items in backpack and left the store without any attempt to pay.  Value of the merchandise was $73.72.

It is also alleged that on the 14 April 12, Simpson (Hynds) sole clothing from Value Village located at 306 Northern and threatened an employee with a weapon, (a flick knife) when he was fleeing on foot after being confronted.  He was also charged with one count of breach of probation regarding a non-communication condition.

A 17 year old youth with no fixed address was arrested and charged with 4 counts of breach of probation for being out past curfew and failing to reside with his parents.  He will be in bail court Wednesday as well.

Break and Enters/Other Property Crimes:  (Thefts, Mischief Reports, etc.) 

Officers responded to several bear calls again today. There were four calls to the Partridge Court and Pawating Place area today.  Complainants indicated that the bears were eating garbage.  There was also a call for a bear on a deck that damaged gas lines and ingested rat poison.  Bears will continue to frequent the area as long as people leave out garbage and attractants. 

Found Property

Police are investigating an incident where a specific sum of money was found between  June 28 and 30 at the Metro in Churchill Plaza.  If you have information regarding this incident or can identify the property please contact Constable Corcoran at the Sault Ste.
