Female Charged with Breach of Release 24-year old Candice Mitchell of 18 Pozzebon Crescent was arrested around 11 pm last night. Officers attended at a west end address last night in regards to a 2 females arguing.
Female Charged with Breach of Release

24-year old Candice Mitchell of 18 Pozzebon Crescent was arrested around 11 pm last night. Officers attended at a west end address last night in regards to a 2 females arguing. When officers did a police query of Candice Mitchell they learned there were outstanding warrants for her. The accused was on release conditions with terms to report to the City Police every Monday. It is alleged that the accused failed to report on 2 dates in May, which resulted in the warrant request. The accused has been charged with 3 counts of breach of a release order.

Stolen Vehicle

An 18-year old person was arrested just before 3 am this morning in the City’s east end. It is alleged that sometime after midnight the accused stole a Dodge Dakota from an address in the 300 block of Morin Street. Officers on route patrol stopped the vehicle in the Dacey Road-Terry Fox area and had the dispatchers call the owner of the vehicle. At that time it was learned the vehicle had been stolen. The accused was also on the police query system as being a prohibited driver due to criminal related driving offence. The accused was also on probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). The accused has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of operate motor vehicle while disqualified-court order and 2 counts of breach of probation. Due to the YCJA convictions the name of the accused cannot be released even though they are 18 years of age at this time.


Male Charged with 5 counts of breach of a release order

A 44-year old male was arrested just after midnight this morning. It is alleged that between May 31st and June 6th the accused contacted his ex-girlfriend while on conditions not to. The contact consisted of phone calls as well as showing up at her residence and leaving notes. The accused was on a release document not to communicate with the victim directly or indirectly. He has been charged with 5 counts of breach of a release order.

Male Charged with Threating to Cause Death

A 20-year old male was arrested around 5 am this morning. It is alleged that the accused attended at his ex-girlfriends west end residence in the early morning hours and broke a clock and remote belonging to the victim. The accused returned a second time to the address and broke a lamp in the living room. When the victim asked the accused to leave she was pushed. Once the accused left it is alleged that he called the victim and threatened her over the phone. The male was taken into custody and has been charged with one count of mischief under $5,000, one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm, one count of unlawfully in a dwelling house and one count of assault.

Mischief Charge Laid Against Male

25-year old Steven Oliver of 240 Albert Street West #4 was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with 3 counts of threatening death and one count of mischief. It is alleged that on the 3rd of June the accused attended at a downtown residence looking for a friend. Some residences of the building asked the accused to be quiet and were then threatened by the accused. It is also alleged that the accused kicked a storage box that belonged to the 3 persons in building breaking a couple of mugs. Mr. Oliver will appear in court on July 11th.


Break and Enter

Yesterday a homeowner in the 100 block of Jemmette Street reported that sometime in the last week their shed was entered and 2 bikes and a chainsaw were removed.


Cat Attacked

City Police are still receiving calls on a regular basis regarding bears in back yards or being sited. However, yesterday morning City Police did receive a call from a residence on Val Street advising a pack of coyotes or wolves had been in their yard and attacked and left the area with a cat. City Police attended in the area and there was no sign of the animals. The Ministry of Natural Resources was notified. Citizens are advised to report any incidents to either the City Police or the MNR related to wolves or coyotes. Do not approach the animals.
