On March 14, 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 24-year-old female for domestic violence-related offences.

Female charged with domestic violence offences

On Mar. 14, 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 24-year-old female for domestic violence-related offences.

It is alleged that on Mar. 14, the accused was engaged in a verbal argument with her boyfriend. The accused took a bottle and stuck the victim over the head with it causing a cut.

The argument continued and the victim locked himself in a bathroom. The accused then took an axe and used it to break the door down.

Police quickly attended and the accused was taken into custody. She has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon, one count of assault causing bodily harm and one count of mischief. She will appear in bail court today.

Male charged with domestic violence offences

On Mar. 14, 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 31-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie on an outstanding warrant for domestic violence-related offences.

It is alleged that on Mar. 11, 2017 the accused went to the residence of his ex-girlfriend. Once there, the accused began breaking various pieces of the victim’s property.  When the victim tried to call police the accused ran at her, took the phone away and pulled her by the hair. 

At that time, the accused was bound by a recognizance with conditions that prohibited him from communicating with the victim or being within 50 meters of her residence.

The accused has been charged with 2 counts of breach of recognizance, 1 count of assault and 1 count of mischief under $5,000. He will appear in bail court today.
