Males Charged with Possession of a Substance
At approx. 4:35 PM yesterday the Sault Ste Marie Police Service and the Joint Forces Drug Unit executed a Drug Search Warrant at 635 Wellington St.E. Apt. # 3 and as a result arrested two males. It is alleged that the two accused were cultivating marihuana plants and re-selling them. Upon searching the premises the officers located 7 mature plants, 52 small plants as well as 13 grams of marihuana and 4 grams of cannabis resin. Charged with Possession of a Substance, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Substance and Production of a Substance are: John Wesley Fletcher, 32 of 635 Wellington St.E. and James Allen Nolan, 34 also of 635 Wellington St.E. Both accused will be appearing in court on Monday April 11th at 9:00 AM.
It should be noted that Marihuana Grow Operations usually require high temperatures and plenty of humidity. These conditions are also ideal for mold to grow. Mold can be very difficult and expensive to remove and may devalue a property’s worth.
Theft Charges Laid
Yesterday afternoon at approx. 3:00 PM employees of the L.C.B.O. at the Station Mall observed a female place a bottle of liquor in her purse and leave the store without paying for the item. As a result she was arrested and police were called. Charged with Theft Under $ 5,000.00 is Cassandra Woodcox, 22, of RR2 Trout Lake Rd. Heyden. She will be appearing in court on Monday
April 18th at 9:00 AM.
Youth Charged with Break and Enter
Yesterday evening at approx. 8:00 PM City Police Detectives arrested a young person and charged him with two counts of Break and Enter. It is alleged that on the 10th of January 2005 the young person broken into St. Matthew Church located at 1643 Wellington St.E. It is further alleged that the accused also broke into a residence, in the 300 block of Pine St., on February 7th. The youth is charged with two counts of Break and Enter. He will be attending court on Tuesday April 19th at 9:30 AM.
Contact City Police With Any Information
At approx. 2:35 AM this morning unknown persons broke into the Wellington Square Mall located at 625 Wellington St. E. The culprits obtained a small amount of cash for their efforts but caused approx. $ 1,800.00 in damages. Anyone that may have seen any suspicious persons loitering around the area are asked to contact the Sault Ste Marie Police Detective Office.
Blaze Under Investigation
The Sault Ste Marie Fire Department and the City Police attended at a residence in the 500 block of Douglas St. regarding a shed on fire. The incident was called in at approx. 8:15 PM. No one injured in the incident . The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
