The Sault police are investigating two separate collisions today. The first accident involved a car and a Huron Central Locomotive. At 8:44 this morning, a 2001 Chevrolet operated by 17-year-old Matthew Karwaski of Forest Avenue crossed the tracks at Pine Street and was struck by the train. The Chevrolet was demolished and there was minimal damage to the locomotive. There were no injuries. Mr. Karwaski was issued a summons for disobeying a crossing signal. The locomotive was operated by Mart Alcock, age 62, of Echo Bay.

Police are investigating a collision involving a school bus and a green Saturn that occurred at 1:49 p.m. today. There were injuries but it is believed they are minor. The fire department was called to extricate the passenger from the Saturn. Police are asking anyone who saw the accident to please call the Traffic Unit at 759-7348.
