Body Recovered From St. Mary's River

Just before 11:30 am this morning officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, with the assistance Fire Services and their boat, recovered the body of an adult from the St. Mary’s River. Officers from Investigation Services have been assigned and are continuing the investigation.
No further details are being released.

Two People To Appear In Bail Court This Morning

1) A 47-year old female was arrested just before midnight last night in relation to a domestic dispute. It is alleged that the accused assaulted her common-law partner by hitting him in the face with a cordless phone. The accused left their downtown residence but was located a short time later by officers. The victim did not require any medical treatment at the time. The female has been charged with one count of assault and one count of assault with a weapon.

2) A 20-year old male was arrested just before 3 am this morning and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his ex-girlfriend by pulling her to the ground and dragging her. The assault occurred in a centrally located address. The victim did not require any medical treatment.

44-Yr Old Woman Charged With Assault

Last evening just before 10 pm City Police arrested 44-year old Connie Green of 1-16 Manilla Terrace and charged her with one count of assault, one count of breach of probation and two counts of breach of a release order. It is alleged that the accused assaulted a female known to her by grabbing the victim by the hair. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with conditions as well as two release documents with conditions to notify change of address and not to consume alcohol. The accused will appear in court on June 5th.

Theft Under $5000

Yesterday afternoon officers arrested and charged 21-year old Krystal Hart of 3-483 Nelson Street with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 22nd of April the accused attended at Western Tire on Queen Street East and was involved in the theft of a downrigger valued at just under $700. The accused will appear in court on June 5th.

Assault

Yesterday morning officers arrested and charged a 24-year old male with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his girlfriend by pushing her down a set of stairs. The incident occurred in the City’s west end of town. The victim did not require medical treatment at the time of the incident. The accused has been charged with one count of assault and will appear in court on June 5th.

Child Hurt In Motor Vehicle Collision

Just before 9 am yesterday morning officers attended at Gore Street and Albert Street West for a motor vehicle collision with injuries. A van operated by 34-year old Dawn Comba of First Avenue was traveling northbound on Gore Street on the green light. It is alleged that a car operated by 84-year old Joseph Mancuso of Third Line West was traveling eastbound on Albert Street West and went through the red light striking the Comba vehicle. A young child, who was in the Comba vehicle, was taken by ambulance to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Mancuso has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of red light-fail to stop.

Trophy Theft

On the 25th of April the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received a report of a unique trophy. Sometime during the month of April a trophy was stolen from the Blue Liner Sport Bar located in the Pee Wee arena. The trophy belongs to Lock City Dairies and is approximately 2 ½ to 3 feet tall with a wooden base. The trophy also has a standing bull holding a cup, which is approximately 10 inches. The name Lock City Dairy First Annual Pro Challenge is also engraved on the trophy.
