Suspects Caught After Pursuit
Just after 4 am this morning a concerned citizen called City Police to report some suspicious activity in the downtown area. The caller reported that three males were hanging around a building in the 500 block of Albert Street West. The citizen reported that the suspects left in a vehicle. Officers attempted to stop a vehicle that matched the description of the one provided by the caller in a laneway west of Bruce Street that runs parallel to Albert Street East but the vehicle fled from the officers. As the officers continued to pursue the vehicle in the alleyways in the downtown area one male fled from the vehicle near Tancred Street and ran north on Tancred Street. The vehicle then turned left onto Tancred Street and failed to stop for the stop sign at Tancred Street and Queen Street East. The vehicle turned west onto Queen Street East and slowed down as the driver approached Gore Street. A second male fled from the vehicle and was pursued on foot by a second police vehicle and officers who were assisting the first police vehicle. The driver of the vehicle went through the red light at Gore Street and continued along Queen Street West. A third police vehicle assisted the vehicle following the car and the two police vehicles were able to maneuver and stop the suspect vehicle safety. The driver jumped out of the vehicle and was quickly taken into custody. Speeds in the pursuit were not in excess of 60 km/h and the distance of the pursuit was under 2 km. Traffic in the area was extremely light and no vehicles were damaged at the conclusion of the incident.
Officers were able to determine that the offices of the Victorian Order of Nurses on Albert Street West had been broken into and a DVD/VCR player and a television had been taken. Officers also determined that the vehicle involved in the pursuit had been stolen, along with the licence plate display on the vehicle. Officers also located break and enter tools including a hammer and files in the vehicle. Officers did locate the stolen property during the course of their investigation
The driver of the vehicle 25-year old Terrance Saunders of Chapleau, Ontario has been charged with one count of flight from police, one count of break and enter and commit an offence, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of dangerous driving, three counts of breach of a release order and one count of possession of housebreaking tools. He will appear in bail court on the 7th of September at 10 am.
Officers in the immediate area apprehended the second suspect, who fled from the car near Gore Street, and he will also appear in bail court on September 7th at 10 am. 24-year old Henry Cadreau of 28 Hughes Street has been charged with one count of break and enter, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of breach of probation and one count of possession of house breaking tools.
Officers from Investigation Services are continuing their investigation into this incident and are looking for the third male.

Three males will appear in bail court this morning:
1) A 39-year old male was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that between the 4th and 5th of September the accused called his ex-wife and left several vulgar messages for her. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with conditions not to molest, harass or annoy the victim.
2) A 41-year old male was arrested just after 10 pm last night and charged with one count of assault and one count of breach and enter and commit an offence. It is alleged that earlier in the evening the accused broke into his girlfriend’s residence and assaulted her by pushing and punching her. The accused was arrested a short time later without incident.
3) A 25-year old male was arrested just before 11 pm last night and charged with one count of criminal harassment, one count of breach of a release order, one count of resist arrest and one count of assault police. It is alleged that on the 5th of September the accused made between 20 to 30 phone calls to his ex-girlfriend after she advised she did not want him to call any more. During the course of their investigation into the complaint of phone calls, officers also learned that the accused was breaching his curfew hours of 6 pm to 6 am, which were part of a release order. When officers went to arrest the accused he pushed one of the officers with his shoulder and attempted to flee the residence. Officers stopped the accused and struggled with him until they were able to handcuff him. During the struggle the accused continued to kick at the officers.
Injury to Animal, Criminal Harassment & Threatening Bodily Harm
62-year old Amelia Sicoli of 40 Cabot Crescent was arrested yesterday and charged with one count of criminal harassment, one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm, one count of assault and one count of injury animal. It is alleged that between the 25th of August and the 5th of September the accused harassed a female known to the accused. It is alleged that the accused repeatedly called the victim and attended at her address. It is alleged that the accused assaulted the victim on one occasion by slapping her. It is also alleged that the accused kicked the victim’s dog in the head. The accused will appear in court on October 16th.
Charged with Assault
A 19-year old female was arrested yesterday evening and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 5th of September the accused assaulted her boyfriend by punching his and slapping him. The incident occurred in the downtown area. The accused will appear in court on October 16th.
Break & Enter
City Police received one report of a break and enter in the last 24-hour period. A shed was entered on Douglas Street but it is unknown if anything was taken. The shed was entered between 10:30 am and 2 pm on the 5th.
City Police received three reports of bear sightings in the last 24-hour period:
1) Just before 8 pm last night a bear and three cubs were seen in the area of Glengary Gate Crescent.
2) Just after 8 pm a homeowner in the 400 block of Old Goulais Bay Road reported a bear in their backyard eating apples in the apple tree.
3) Just after 6 am this morning a bear was observed walking on Goulais Avenue at McQueen Road.
