West end altercation leads to weapons charges for 22-year-old

Accused was said to have been hitting a neighbour's visitor's vehicle and pulled what looked like a handgun from his waistband when confronted

It’s alleged at 8:25 p.m. on May 15, 2020, the accused was at his residence in the 200 block of Pittsburgh Avenue.

Another resident in the area had people at their residence, and they heard the accused hitting one of their vehicles. The neighbour went to talk to the accused about this. At this time the accused pulled a handgun from his waistband and threatened to kill the victim.

On May 15, 2020 officers with Patrol Services arrested 22-year-old Matthew Daynard for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police were called and contained the area. The accused was located in his residence and arrested. Officers located the weapon and determined it to be a bb gun.

He is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, uttering threats and two counts of breach of recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 27, 2020.
