A 23-year-old woman is accused of kicking three Sault Ste. Marie police officers while being arrested over the weekend.

Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Bloor Street West at around 11 p.m. Friday after someone phoned 911 to report an assault. A suspect, who was also wanted for failing to attend court, was arrested a short time later.

“As an officer was placing the accused into the cruiser, the accused kicked the officer,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

According to police, investigators later determined that the suspect had allegedly thrown a bottle at someone before hitting them over the head with another bottle. A second victim was slapped, police allege.

While in custody at police headquarters, the suspect allegedly kicked two other police officers "multiple times."

Jacey Brown, 23, is charged with three counts of assaulting a peace officer, two counts of assault, and one count of assault with a weapon.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Brown is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
