A woman faces charges after allegedly lying to police, Sault Ste. Marie police said in a news release issued today.

Police say the accused called them on Oct. 18, saying she had been robbed at gunpoint and held against her will.

Upon investigation, police discovered the allegations were false and unfounded.

She was located on Nov. 8 and as a result, Alicia Mancino, 25, was arrested and charged with public mischief.

She was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 10, 2022.
