Woman found in garage and charged with break and enter

Sault Ste. Marie Police arrested a woman inside a garage that she allegedly broke into.

Barbara Makinson was found inside a garage on the 300 block of Pim Street around 7 a.m. after police had been called for a break and enter in progress.

She was arrested for the break and enter, and was found to have two grams of what police suspect is methamphetamine.

On July 6, 2022, officers with Patrol Services charged 41-year-old Barbara Makinson with break and enter.

Around 7:00 a.m. officers responded to a break and enter in progress in a garage of a residence in the 300 block of Pim Street. Upon arrival, officers located the accused inside the garage. Upon speaking with them, the accused provided a false name. Through further investigation officers were able to properly identify the accused. The accused was arrested, and a subsequent search found them to be in possession of approximately 2 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine.

The accused is charged with,

  • Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling House
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Fail to Appear or Comply with a Release Order x4

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
