Georgetown GO Station Area/Mill Street Corridor Secondary Plan Review Steering Committee

Town of Halton Hills

The Town of Halton Hills is seeking five volunteers interested in serving on a Steering Committee for the Georgetown GO Station Area/Mill Street Corridor Secondary Plan Review. To better integrate community voices into this ongoing project, the Town is looking for residents, landowners and business owners to help shape policies being drafted for the revised secondary plan.

Background

The Georgetown GO Station Area/Mill Street Corridor Secondary Plan Review began in April 2022 and is required to ensure conformity with the updated Provincial and Regional policies while considering local plans and priorities. The focus of the review has been to examine how to best intensify within existing high density and mixed-use areas, while also protecting the natural heritage and historic low-density neighbourhoods existing within the plan area.

The Secondary Plan review strives to be a community-integrated process shaped by input from the public, key stakeholders, and public agencies. To date, the project team has engaged the community through Public Open Houses, Stakeholder Working Group meetings and ongoing engagement opportunities on Let’s Talk Halton Hills project page.

Steering Committee Duties

  • Share information/knowledge of the study area;
  • Provide input on the remaining project deliverables, including the development of draft Secondary Plan policies;
  • Attend Committee meetings and project Public Open Houses;
  • Receive feedback from community members outside the Committee; and,
  • Serve as a direct link between the project team and the community.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a resident of, or hold property within, or adjacent to, the Georgetown GO Station Area/Mill Street Corridor Plan Area in Halton Hills (see map);
  • Representatives from established neighbourhood groups and associations are welcome and encouraged to apply;
  • Must be over the age of 18 years; and,
  • May not be employed by the Town of Halton Hills.

  • Interested applicants should provide some information on why they would like to be a part of the Committee, and what experience, skill or expertise they bring to the role.
  • Interested applicants should also indicate whether they have attended past Public Open Houses and/or Stakeholder Working Group meetings.
  • The Steering Committee will function throughout the remainder of the Secondary Plan Review. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
