Enhanced Language Training (ELT) Program Overview

Centre for Skills offers specialized language training for newcomers preparing to enter the Canadian workplace. This course aims to improve English language skills and prepare students for success at work.

Program Highlights:

Language Skills:
-Learn relevant vocabulary and business idioms.
-Enhance written communication, including composing clear and effective emails.

Communication and Presentation:
-Uncover basics of effective communication and teamwork.
-Gain confidence in speaking by learning to prepare and deliver professional presentations and give/receive feedback.

Professional Skills:
-Learn basics of project management and improve problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.

Cultural Intelligence:
Explore workplace environment, Canadian corporate culture, and importance of cultural intelligence (CQ) in a multicultural workplace.

Career Support:
-Meet with a Career Specialist to create effective cover letters and résumés.
-Practice interview skills.
-Connect with employers hiring in the Halton region.

Additional Opportunities:
-Access to employment, professional mentorship, and volunteer opportunities in the Halton region.

Program Details:
-Duration: 12 weeks, full-time
-Commitment: ELT is a 'full-time' commitment for job-ready students; not advisable to take other courses or work during course hours.

Eligibility:
Adult immigrants (18+) who are residents of Ontario
Permanent residents and convention refugees
Must have a valid CLB skill level assessment (assessments can be arranged if needed)
