Village Media — a proudly independent, digital-first network of local news sources in 25 cities across the province — is searching for a talented, dynamic journalist to serve as the News Editor of our eagerly anticipated news site in Dundas, Ontario.
Across all of our news sites in Ontario, our primary mission is to tell people what’s happening TODAY. Although our team of reporters is always chipping away at in-depth, enterprising stories, our main focus is to inform our readers about what is happening right now — and why it matters. Our newsroom is aggressive, nimble and driven by a constant sense of urgency. We chase the stories people are talking about (or should be talking about) and tell them those important stories with authority and accuracy.

• You are fair, accurate and transparent
Your Skills are Learned and Earned
Ideally, you have a bachelor’s degree or diploma in journalism, or a related field. You have at least five years of experience in a newsroom setting. You have exceptional writing and editing skills and a thorough knowledge of CP style. You have the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues inside our Village and within the communities we serve. You have a valid driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle. Familiarity with the Regional Municipality of Hamilton-Wentworth and the Dundas, Ontario community specifically will be considered a strong asset, but not a dealbreaker.
This is a remote position. The successful candidate must either live in the Dundas, Ontario area or be willing to relocate.
