Lucy and Cupcake

(The Cavy Corner)

Lucy and Cupcake are approximately 10 months old, they are extremely friendly, and love to be handled.

They are young, active rats who enjoy time out of their cage.

Before you say "YUCK! RATS!?" click here for the top 5 reasons why rats make great pets!

Both girls have lived with young children in their previous home; however a home with children 5 years old and up is preferred.

The rats have lived in a home with cats and dogs, and do not seem phased by either.

Care will need to be taken if potential adopters have "predators" in the home.

Rats generally live approximately 2-3 years, though with no health problems and excellent care, they can live up to 5 years.

Rats can get sick, just like a cat or dog, and they do need to see a veterinarian when they are hurt or ill.

Thankfully, the vet bills for these tiny critters are never nearly as high as they would be for a larger animal.

Rats LOVE to eat; and they can and will eat just about anything.

There are some foods, however, that are very unsafe for your little friend to nibble on.

Their diet will need to be monitored, as rats can over-eat, and become dangerously overweight.

Even though they would love to share your entire bag of chips with you, treats and "junk" foods should be given sparingly.

Rats make wonderful companions, and many people who were previously turned off by rats have been won over by their precious charm.

Lucy and Cupcake are anxiously awaiting their forever family to swoop them up onto their shoulders and take them home.

They will give you many laughs, and years worth of cuddles.
