For many years, the town of Blind River hosted the Dragon Boat races, before deciding to retire the fundraising event in search of a new and exciting event with a fundraising twist.
In 2014, Blind River hosted the 1st Annual Color Dash Festival and had over 250 participants.
The town is gearing up for their second Color Dash this June 2015.
What Is The Color Dash?
The Color Dash 5k is an event to encourage and establish new goals for many people, by promoting health and wellness while having a good time.
Every km of the dash has a colour station where the dasher will be covered by colour: blue, green, yellow, orange and pink.
By the end of it, everyone will look like a rainbow of colours! Whether you run, walk, crawl or roll -- it doesn't matter.
The route is designed to be wheelchair/stroller friendly to ensure it's a fun event for everyone. (No bicycles please.)
The Color Dash, and similar colour festivals across the globe, is loosely based on the ancient Hindu Festival of Colors, Holi.
Taking place every spring in India, Holi is a celebration of the end of winter and the start of spring, as well as other purposes. As part of the festival, participants spray each other with vibrant colours.
The Color Dash event is about bringing good, helping communities and raising money the most vibrant way possible.
This 5 km, untimed race welcomes everyone of every shape, size, age and ability.
