NEWS RELEASE
SAULT AREA HOSPITAL
***************************
As part of our ongoing efforts to keep patients safe, effective immediately, Sault Area Hospital (SAH) has implemented the following visitor restrictions:
    •    Emergency Department - No visitors allowed except in cases in trauma and for compassionate reasons. Only one parent will be allowed to accompany a child under the age of 18.
    •    Intensive Care Unit - No visitors allowed except in cases of trauma or for compassionate reasons.
    •    Maternity/Labour/Pediatrics/NICU - No visitors allowed except one parent/caregiver. One partner for a patient in labour is permitted. Please consult with the nursing staff on the unit for direction.
    •    All other units - No visitors allowed except for compassionate reasons; under these circumstances, only one visitor at a time will be permitted. Please consult with the nursing staff on the units for direction.
    •    Outpatients requiring assistance - Outpatients who are attending the hospital for treatment/diagnostic appointments are allowed to have one person accompany them.
    •    Do NOT bring any visitors if you are presenting with COVID-19 symptoms.

For those who are visiting in cases of trauma or for compassionate reasons, the following expectations apply:
    •    All visitors will be screened at the main entrances. Visitors exhibiting signs of influenza-like illnesses (fever, cough, difficulty breathing, runny nose, or sneezing) will be asked to return home, and self-isolate and will not have access to the hospital. Parking gates will be open to accommodate those that are turned away.
    •    Limit your visiting. Visitors who are unwell or have travelled outside of Canada (including Sault Michigan) are asked to NOT visit.
    •    Visitors are encouraged to keep their visit short.

SAH thanks our community for their patience and understanding during this time of uncertainty. Measures are being implemented daily for the safety and protection of all those we serve and our health care workers.
