Algoma Public Health reports three new COVID cases

Algoma Public Health is reporting three new COVID-19 cases in the region this evening.

The new cases bring the total number of cases in the Algoma region to 81, which includes 19 active cases.

Among the three new cases are two from Sault Ste. Marie and area while the third is from Central and East Algoma.

All three new cases were from test conducted on Saturday and are currently self-isolating.

The exposure category for two of the new cases was close contact with a known confirmed case while the exposure category for the other was unknown, meaning the person did not have recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

APH has reported 16 new cases in the region since Dec. 31, 2020.

Among the 19 cases currently active in the Algoma region is one non-Algoma resident temporarily in the region.
