APH confirms three new COVID cases

There are currently 49 active cases in Algoma

Algoma Public Health is reporting three new cases of COVID-19 in the Algoma region.

All three cases are in the Sault Ste. Marie area.

The new cases bring the total number of cases in the region to 121 since the pandemic began.

Cases 119 and 121 were both tested on Jan. 8 and are under the exposure category of close contact, meaning the person was infected through close contact with a known confirmed case.

Case 120 was tested on Jan. 5 and is under the exposure category of unknown, meaning the person did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a confirmed case.

There are currently 49 active cases in the region and one active case in a non-Algoma resident who is temporarily in the region.

The number of active cases in the region has gone down from Friday when there were 51 active cases.
