Algoma Public Health has confirmed three new COVID-19 cases in the Algoma region.

All three cases are in the Sault Ste. Marie area.

The new cases bring the total number of COVID cases in the Algoma region since the start of the pandemic to 165.

Of the new cases, all three were tested on Jan. 27 and fall under the unknown exposure category.

Unknown exposure means the individual did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

All three individuals are currently self-isolating.

The new cases bring the number of active cases in the region to 18.

The new cases announced today come after APH announced seven new cases in the region on Friday as well as an outbreak at FJ Davey Home, where six staff members tested positive for COVID.
