APH reporting two new COVID cases

There are currently 21 active cases in Algoma

Algoma Public Health is reporting two new COVID-19 cases in the Algoma region.

Of the two cases, one is in the Sault Ste. Marie area and the other is in central and east Algoma.

The new cases bring the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Algoma region since the start of the pandemic to 177.

Case number 176, tested on Feb. 3, is under the exposure category of unknown.

Case number 177, tested on Feb. 2, also falls under the unknown exposure category.

Unknown exposure means the individual did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

Both individuals are currently in self-isolation.

The new cases bring the number of active cases in the region to 21.
