APH reports two new COVID-19 cases

One individual is from Elliot Lake while the other is from the central and east Algoma area

Algoma Public Health is reporting two new cases of COVID-19.

One is from Elliot Lake and area and the other is from the central and east Algoma area.

According to APH, both exposure categories are unknown and both individuals are self isolating.

This brings the total number of cases reported by APH to 167. Currently, the region has 19 active cases.

Comparatively, in Chippewa County, which covers Sault Ste. Marie Mich. and surrounding area, the COVID-19 data as of Tuesday states:

  • 1,704 cumulative positives
  • 1,439 cumulative recovered
  • 22 deaths
  • 3 cases currently hospitalized

Through contact tracing, Algoma Public Health notifies all close contacts directly. If you are not contacted by Algoma Public Health you are not considered a close contact.
