APH reports two new COVID-19 cases

One is from the Elliot Lake area while the other is from central and east Algoma

Algoma Public Health (APH) is reporting two new cases of COVID-19.

One is from Elliot Lake and area and one is from central and east Algoma.

Both are self-isolating, according to the health unit, and both exposure categories are listed as unknown.

To date, APH has reported 186 cases within its jurisdiction. Of those cases, 30 are currently active, 156 have been resolved, and two are currently hospitalized.  Two have died from COVID-19 within the Algoma region.

Comparatively, in Chippewa County, which covers Sault Ste. Marie Mich. and surrounding area, the COVID-19 data as of Friday states:

  • 1,714 cumulative positives
  • 1,555 cumulative recovered
  • 24 deaths
  • 3 cases currently hospitalized
